The 8th grade English classes are doing "Lit Circles" this year - a new thing for them. I have a study hall with all 8th graders and many of them are doing that right now. I decided it would be a good idea if I read the books (there are 6 of them) so that if my study hall kids needed help, I would be able to help them.
This book is based on the real killing of a 15 year old boy in Mississippi in 1955. This book is historical fiction. It was a quick read and I thought that it was well written. The students seem to enjoy reading it, which is good.
