This is one of those books that has basically two stories going on at once. They are directly connected but the things that happen are very different. I enjoyed reading about the trip through the Brazilian "jungle" and the contrast between the consumerism and entitlement of some in the U.S. with the "do what it takes to survive" attitudes of others in the world.
I felt the ending was rushed and unsatisfying. I am never really a fan of those stories that have all this drama through out and then at the very end an important person suddenly dies and the drama fades away.
