This book is set in the Cholistan Desert of Pakistan. I always find it so interesting to read about people in different cultures - even fiction writings. This is a whole huge world and there are so many different cultures, it is way too easy to forget about the rest of the world.

I can't imagine myself living in the desert - I don't think I've ever even been to a desert! The choices that people are afforded in the U.S. are so different than in other places - we have the choice to marry for love and in other places, marriage is an alliance or a financial decision.
